Dr. Curtis completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1977, earning his bachelor’s in chemistry with High Honors, High Distinction.
He was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a James B. Angell Scholar. He received a Gomberg Research Scholarship in Chemistry and earned Class Honors from 1973-1977. Dr. Curtis earned his medical degree in 1981 at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, completed his internal medicine training at the University of Nevada School of Medicine in 1984.
He received his Radiation Oncology training at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from 1987-1990 and passed his written and oral Board exams for his second Board Certification in Radiation Oncology in 1991.
Specializes in the treatment of various types of cancer, but has a special interest in the following areas: CyberKnife® Radiosurgery and Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy, multidisciplinary lung cancer treatment, prostate cancer, head and neck cancer, breast cancer and skin cancer.
Dr. Curtis was in multispecialty group practice in Internal Medicine from 1984-1987 and served as Assistant Clinical Professor of Internal Medicine at University of Nevada School of Medicine. After completing his second residency in Radiation Oncology, Dr. Curtis joined Nevada Radiation Oncology Centers in 1990 and was one of the founding members of Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada following the merger with Southwest Cancer Clinic in 2000. He also started the Prostate Brachytherapy Program at Summerlin Hospital in 1998 and Intravascular Brachytherapy program in 2004 at Valley Hospital. Dr. Curtis has pioneered and facilitated regular Cancer Conferences and Breast Cancer Conferences at Summerlin Hospital since 2002.
For all of his accomplishments and contributions to the healthcare community, Dr. Curtis has been named Top Doctor in the specialty of Radiation Oncology by US News & World Report, Desert Companion, Las Vegas Life, Vegas Seven and Vegas Inc.
Dr. Curtis and his wife, Patricia, have one daughter, Brittany, who is currently in Law School specializing in Intellectual Property Law and Cyberlaw. Dr. Curtis enjoys western outdoor activities including skiing, hiking and fly fishing as well as college football, being a loyal fan for over 40 years to the University of Michigan football program.
